COntrol systems
overview
All Auke control systems are connected to the internet via a secure remote 3G/4G connection. Inside the control cabinet all of the critical devices are ethernet devices which means that all of the critical control infrastructure inside an Auke cabinet is accessible at any time over the internet.
This investment in modern communication solutions has proven to provide many benefits for Auke’s clients during commissioning and operation and maintenance.
technology
Auke's control and communication solutions integrate a number of different aspects to provide our clients with an industry standard, complete control and monitoring solution.
There are 4 main components in Aukes IoT control system.
Site controls
-
Industrial controller with Ethernet/IP, HTTPS, Modbus TCP, DNP3 over ethernet and other ethernet communication protocols. The controller controls all aspects of the site and provides flexible communication options for current and future requirements.
-
Industrial touchscreen HMI for local site control and provides the operators with functionality for commissioning, troubleshooting and advanced site configuration. The HMI has VNC capabilities which allows remote access to view and control the HMI exactly the same as using it on site.
-
3G/4G industrial modem for connecting each site to the internet.
-
Smart sensors such as Ethernet encoders and IO-link limit switches.
-
Optional Ethernet radios for connecting sites where 3G/4G data is not reliable or not economically beneficial.
cloud server
-
Auke utilises cloud servers from different vendors such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Alibaba (Aliyun) to provide our clients with all the benefits of cloud computing such as easily scalable as the client’s system grows, industry leading security, high reliability and no hardware maintenance.
-
Auke installs all control, monitoring and support software on the cloud server so the client’s entire system is easy to manage.
-
The cloud server contains the ODBC database, which means it is easily accessible for other business systems if required.
communication
-
Auke utilises 3G/4G industrial modems to provide a secure, fast and reliable connection for our gates.
-
The modems are able to use a variety of methods for connecting to the cloud server such as IPsec VPN (high security with encryption) and telecom provider private network solutions.
-
Auke provides an option to utilise ethernet radios in the 900Mhz band (licensed or unlicensed) to connect gates in a hub and node design for areas with patchy 3G/4G coverage or to share the monthly data costs between multiple sites.
software
-
Auke provides various software options for our clients to control and monitor their systems including APPs, SCADA and CDC, Auke’s complete channel control solution.
-
All software is installed on the cloud server and provides the final link between the user and the gates.
benefits
-
Auke engineers are able to remotely access all of the site devices at any time with a fast and secure internet connection.

-
Auke’s engineers are able to provide all the same advanced software and diagnostic services remotely as they would have traditionally provided on site.
-
Operators are able to contact Auke for immediate assistance with operation, troubleshooting or maintenance. Traditionally serious problems would have required an engineer to travel to site which may mean the gate is offline for days or weeks but now most problems can be remotely diagnosed and resolved within minutes or hours.
-
There is no need for the client to have in-house software or controls engineers to manage their assets. Instead, the client operators are easily trained to perform the site inspection and tasks while the advanced software and technical tasks are managed remotely.

-
Auke’s clients are able to request updates as their requirements change. For example, 5 years after a project is completed, new environmental regulations require the irrigation department to monitor and record water quality information. With Auke’s system all the necessary software updates and testing can be completed remotely while the physical installation can be completed by the client, which significantly reduces the cost of modification and compliance compared with having to mobile engineers to site to perform the same tasks.

-
Auke’s clients can benefit from updates or features developed for other clients due to the cost of remotely implementing upgrades costing far less than traditional site based upgrade work.
