LayFlat - Overshot Regulator

LayFlat.jpg
Overview

overview

The layflat gate is an automated channel regulating gate. The gate is designed to measure the flow rate through the structure whilst also automatically controlling the open canal system. The gates are an all-in-one package that combines an aluminium gate with a motor, control panel, solar power system and telemetry system. Auke's aluminium gates have  a service life of 25-40 years in freshwater applications.

The gates offer a number of different automatic control options to the operators, which provides the operators with maximum flexibility when it comes to managing the canal system.

Applications

  • Automatic open channel control and regulation. The operators can choose from a 5 operating modes to provide automatic level or flow control of the canal system.

  • In channel flow measurement.

  • System wide channel modernization when combined with suitable control software such as CDC.

  • Sub channel or farm offtakes that require flow measurement.

  • Remote channel control using solar and remote telemetry systems.

Flow Measurement

The LayFlat gates measure the flow rate using the upstream level, downstream level and gate position and is accurate to within  ±5% over a wide range of flow conditions. The accuracy and reliability of the flow measurement algorithm has been verified by FlowLab ™, an Australian open channel flow measurement and verification facility.

Features
IOT control system

Auke provides all of the benefits associated with Internet of Things (IoT) systems for their clients. Having internet connected control systems means that all of Auke's clients are able to access prompt and reliable remote support and upgrades from Auke's engineers. This significantly reduces downtime for the client and means that the operators are never truly alone in the field because expert assistance is only a phone call away.

multibay

Auke's unique gate design allows for multiple gates or bays to be combined into one structure. This provides many benefits for the customer including:

  • Reduced cost compared with purchasing multiple single bay gates.

  • 1 control cabinet per site.

  • Reduced installation time and cost

  • Reduced concrete work and expense as no centre pier is required.

Trouble free install

Aukes integrated solution of combining the gate, sensors, controls and solar power into one item means that installation couldn't be easier, simply clean the concrete and attach the gate.

Auke utilise plug-and-play solutions for all sensors, motors and connected devices, which means the onsite electrical installation is completed within minutes. All gates are factory commissioned which means once the power is turned on and a simple initialization procedure is completed the gate is ready for operation.

Auke's focus on providing the best products for our clients means a typical installation and commissioning is completed within 3-4 hours.

installation

There are a number of installation options for the LayFlat gate depending on the site and client requirements.

The main options are:

Installation
headwall.png
  • Headwall – the LayFlat gate is mounted in front of an existing concrete structure (or new structure). This allows the traditional opening of the structure to be maintained so there is no loss in flow capacity. It typically requires little or no cornet work which reduces cost and installation time.

channel mount.png
  • Channel Mount – the LayFlat gate is mounted with the concrete channel flume. This is well suited to new structures where the concrete width can be increased to maintain the same flow capacity.

rebate mount.png
  • Rebate Mountthe LayFlat gate is mounted in rebates or a frame within the channel. If the rebates or mounting frame are incorporated into the concrete structure design this is a very quick installation, the gate is dropped into the mounting frame then sealed, the process is completed in under an hour.

Sizing

The gates can be delivered in standard or custom sizes to meet the clients requirements. Standard sizes offer quick product delivery, whilst custom sizes allow the gates to be designed to suit the existing concrete which significantly reduces project costs.
