LevTrol - undershot Regulator

Overview

overview

The LevTrol gate is an automated channel regulating gate. The gate is capable of automatically. controlling the water level in the upstream or downstream pool, along with the traditional applications for undershot (sluice) gates.

The gates can be supplied as an all-in-one package that combines an aluminium gate with a motor, control panel, solar power system and telemetry system to provide the operators with complete automatic and remote control over their gates. Auke's aluminium LevTrol gates have a 316 stainless steel spindle which ensures that the gates have  a service life of 25-40 years in freshwater applications.

Applications

  • Automatic open channel control and regulation. The operators can choose from a 4 operating modes including automatic upstream or downstream pool level control.

  • Remote channel control using solar and remote telemetry systems.

  • Sub channel or farm offtakes that require flow measurement when supplied with a suitable flow meter.

  • Isolation i.e fully open, fully closed or intermediate position control.

  • System wide channel modernization when combined with suitable control software such as CDC.

Low Maintenance

Aukes LevTrol gate is designed to minimise the maintenance requirements for the operators. This is achieved by using high quality materials designed for the application. The stainless steel spindle and aluminium construction have a minimum service live of 25 years in fresh water. Auke use a self-lubricating drive nut which means the spindle never requires greasing which is typically the most significant part of sluice gate maintence. This means that the only regular maintenance required for Auke’s LevTrol gate is routine damage inspection.

Trouble free install

Auke has designed its own proprietary seal profiles to ensure minimum leakage and increased seal longevity. All of Auke’s seals are made from UV stabilised plasticised rubber, which means they do not deteriorate in the sun, and will typically last 20-30 years in freshwater applications. The seal profiles are specially designed to minimise leakage, with 0 leakage achievable with accurate installation.

Auke provides all of the benefits associated with Internet of Things (IoT) systems for their clients. Having internet connected control systems means that all of Auke's clients are able to access prompt and reliable remote support and upgrades from Auke's engineers. This significantly reduces downtime for the client and means that the operators are never truly alone in the field because expert assistance is only a phone call away.

Aukes integrated solution of combining the gate, sensors, controls and solar power into one item means that installation couldn't be easier, simply clean the concrete and attach the gate.

Auke utilises plug-and-play solutions for all sensors, motors and connected devices, which means the onsite electrical installation is completed within minutes. All gates are factory commissioned which means once the power is turned on and a simple initialization procedure is completed the gate is ready for operation.

Auke's focus on providing the best products for our clients means a typical installation and commissioning is completed within 3 hours.

Installation Options

General

installation

There are a number of installation options for the LevTrol gate depending on the site and client requirements.

The main options are:

Installation
headwall.png
  • Headwall – the gate is mounted in front of an existing concrete structure (or new structure). This allows the traditional opening of the structure to be maintained so there is no loss in flow capacity. It typically requires little or no concrete work which reduces cost and installation time.

channel mount.png
  • Channel Mount – the gate is mounted with the concrete channel flume. This is well suited to new structures where the concrete width can be increased to maintain the same flow capacity.

rebate mount.png
  • Rebate Mount – the gate is mounted in rebates or a frame within the concrete channel. If the rebates or mounting frame are incorporated into the concrete structure design this is a very quick installation, the gate is dropped into the mounting frame then sealed, the process is completed in under an hour.

Sizing

The gates can be delivered in standard or custom sizes to meet the clients requirements. Standard sizes offer quick product delivery, whilst custom sizes allow the gates to be designed to suit the existing concrete which significantly reduces project costs.
